FORT WORTH, Texas – April 22, 2015
Dr. Arsalla Islam has always wanted to do something where she had the opportunity to
change the lives of people around her and healthcare suited that desire better than any
She didn’t start out to pursue a career in healthcare — she was working on a degree in
engineering when she saw her older sister helping others through modern medicine and
realized that was also her dream.
Her healthcare focus is on minimally invasive bariatric surgery, and in vascular and
endovascular surgery. The services she offers her patients are life-changing, to say the
least. With her care, patients can improve their health and overall quality of life.
Dr. Islam recently opened a new practice on Heritage Trace Parkway in the North Fort
Worth/Keller/Alliance area. She is passionate about helping people in the place she
calls home and holds most dear to her heart. She wants only the best for her community
and its people, so she built a state-of-the-art facility to help care for them.
“I especially enjoy giving back to the community, and have given seminars at local
schools to teach kids how to eat healthfully and stay active,” Dr. Islam said. “I want to
help them avoid the diseases many adults struggle with today due to diet and lifestyle
Dr. Islam is one of just a few female bariatric surgeons in the Metroplex, and is highly
regarded in the field. She offers services including gallbladder removal, hernia repair,
carotid surgery, endovascular and open surgical treatment for upper extremity,
abdominal, lower extremity vessels, and much more. She also performs minimally
invasive procedures including gastric band, gastric sleeve and gastric bypass (Roux-enY)
and revision surgery. These types of procedures are designed to limit food intake so
patients can regain control of their weight and health.
One of her specialties is helping individuals fight and win the battle against obesity. It is
a long journey for patients, but Dr. Islam provides care and service throughout the
process. She takes the time to form a bond and trust with each of her patients, and her
personalized approach helps patients believe in themselves, and in their caregiver.
“What’s most rewarding for me as a doctor is to see patients lose weight, get back to a
normal life, and get off medication for conditions such as high blood pressure, Type 2
diabetes, and high cholesterol,” Dr. Islam said.
Patients with obesity often have vascular disease or similar vascular conditions as well.
There is a strong correlation between the two, which is why she chose to focus on both
for her practice.
“Overweight patients also tend to have varicose veins or venous insufficiency, and
battle conditions such as diabetic vascular disease,” Dr. Islam said. “I often help
patients suffering from obesity with both bariatric surgery and vascular care. If someone
comes in for vascular surgery and they are obese, I help them understand how the two
If you live in the area and are suffering from these conditions, schedule a consultation

with your needs. Most insurance plans are accepted.
