My Bariatric Solutions and the East Campus of Wise Health System are committed to high-quality patient care and have been recognized by many of the nation’s leading health accreditation organizations. The following are awards and designations we have been honored to receive for delivering excellent healthcare.

MBSAQIP – A Unified Quality Improvement Program

Wise Health System’s East Campus,  has been granted accreditation by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). My Bariatric Solutions is owned and operated by Wise Health System.

MBSAQIP works to advance safe, high-quality care for bariatric surgical patients through the accreditation of bariatric surgical centers. A bariatric surgical center achieves accreditation following a rigorous review process during which it proves that it can maintain certain physical resources, human resources, and standards of practice. All accredited centers report their outcomes to the MBSAQIP database.

The My Bariatric Solutions program at Wise Health System offers patients an education-based weight loss surgery program that caters to their specific needs. The team of specialists include a Medical Director, board certified bariatric surgeons, nurse practitioners, bariatric nurse coordinator, registered dietitians, an exercise physiologist, multiple psychologists, and more team members who provide each patient with expert care before and after weight loss surgery.

To earn the MBSAQIP accreditation, WHS and My Bariatric Solutions under went a series of site inspections during which all aspects of the program’s surgical processes were closely examined and data on health outcomes was collected.

Wise Health System’s experienced surgeons are well-versed in both laparoscopic (minimally-invasive) and open surgeries, and perform the latest, most-advanced bariatric surgical and non-surgical procedures, including Lap-Band®, Gastric Sleeve, Gastric Balloon, Roux-en-y gastric bypass and Revisional Bariatric Surgeries.

Blue Distinction Center

Wise Health System, the facility that My Bariatric Solutions Weight Loss Surgery Program performs it’s Bariatric procedures is named a Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery® by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBS TX)*.

Blue Distinction® is a designation awarded by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering quality healthcare, under objective selection criteria. According to the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, Blue Distinction Centers for Bariatric Surgery have demonstrated expertise in delivery of quality health care, resulting in improved outcomes for bariatric patients. Each program adheres to stringent criteria, developed in association with physician panels and national medical societies, including the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), and is subject to periodic reassessment as criteria evolves.

United Healthcare Center of Excellence

My Bariatric Solutions/Wise Health System is certified as a United Health Care OptumHealth Bariatric Centers of Excellence. Optum uses proprietary evaluation criteria, developed by our Clinical Sciences Institute, to select medical centers eligible to participate in our Centers of Excellence network.

The Clinical Sciences Institute is comprised of practicing experts, such as transplant surgeons, oncologists, neonatologists and pediatric cardiologists, in the medical fields related to our network products.

Upon receipt of a completed evaluation, the Clinical Sciences Institute conducts a detailed analysis of the program’s responses to both clinical and administrative components and compares the responses to evaluation criteria. Programs that meet the criteria proceed to the contracting step of the Centers of Excellence network development process.

Cigna Three-Star Quality Center for Bariatric Surgery

My Bariatric Solutions is designated as a Cigna Three-Star Quality Center for Bariatric Surgery. Designation criteria includes maintaining current Full Approval by the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery and/or Level 1 Full Approval by the American College of Surgeons.

Certified LAP-BAND Total Care Program

The LAP-BAND TOTAL CARE™ Program represents a standard of excellence in the assessment, treatment and ongoing care of adjustable gastric banding patients.

The LAP-BAND TOTAL CARE™ Program, developed by Allergan and based on the worldwide experience with the LAP-BAND® System, is a comprehensive set of clinical and operational “best practices”. What does this mean for you, the patient? It means that your LAP-BAND® System Bariatric team can access the LAP-BAND TOTAL CARE™ tools they need to give you the best care, information and support possible, anywhere.

Accreditation with the Better Business Bureau

BBB letter grades represent the BBB’s opinion of the business. The BBB grade is based on BBB file information about the business. In some cases, a business’ grade may be lowered if the BBB does not have sufficent information about the business despite BBB requests for that information from the business.

My Bariatric Solutions and Dr. Scott Stowers have an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau. BBB sets standards for ethical business behavior and monitors compliance. Almost 400,000 Accredited Businesses meet and commit to our high standards.

Aetna Institute For Quality For Bariatric Surgery

Wise Health System’s Bariatric Program has been designated as an Aetna Institute of Quality for Bariatric Surgery. Aetna designates hospitals and facilities in the Aetna network as “Institutes of Quality” based on an evaluation of the clinical performance and overall value of the designated service.

Bariatric surgery, also known as weight-loss surgery, refers to various surgical procedures to treat people living with morbid, or extreme, obesity.

We may select a facility to participate in the Aetna Institutes of Quality bariatric surgery network if it meets certain measures of:

  • Clinical quality
  • Cost efficiency
  • Access for bariatric (weight loss) services

Facilities selected for the network must have significant experience in bariatric surgery. In the most recent calendar year:

  • Inpatient facilities must have performed at least 125 procedures
  • Ambulatory surgery centers must have performed at least 75 procedures

Facilities also must:

  • Meet evidence-based and recognized standards for clinical outcomes, processes of care and patient safety
  • Provide ongoing follow-up programs and support for patients
  • Demonstrate efficiency in providing care based on the overall cost of care, readmission rates and the comprehensiveness of the program
  • Be accredited as an ambulatory surgery center by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (AAAASF), the American Osteopathic Association’s Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP), or the Joint Commission
