I then attended the University of Texas at Arlington to obtain my Masters in Nursing after 20 years in the ICU/CCU and ER.
I am primarily located in the hospital during the week. You will see me in the recovery room immediately after surgery and I will then be following you during your stay in the hospital. My role is to follow you in the hospital after surgery in order to manage your care. This may include pain and nausea management, blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring or simply addressing questions or concerns.
I am very excited to be a part of our health care team and look forward to meeting each and every one of you.

Mistey, RN, CBN, Bariatric Nurse Coordinator
I joined the weight loss team at My Bariatric Solutions in July 2011 as a nurse coordinator. I coordinate with surgical patients to ensure they meet all their pre-operative needs, answer any questions they may have pre/post op, visit all inpatient post-op patients before they discharge from the facility after a sleeve/bypass, order their labs for the year post op, get all lab results and discuss with physician, order medications, call all post op patients for follow up.
I perform Lap-Band adjustments when needed, if the mobile unit is traveling or a patient is having an emergent issue with the band, or if there is staff illness. I serve as backup for clinic staff when needed and travel to Keller and Dallas when required. I participate in patient education (what bariatric surgery will be like, pain expected, etc) and complete their pre-op paperwork.
Some of my responsibilities include coordinating monthly meetings with all department medical staff directors within the Wise Regional Health System (WRHS). This ensures that every aspect of the patient’s care is met from admission to discharge. I help to ensure requirements are met/maintained so that our American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Center of Excellence (COE) is maintained. This includes data collection on all post-op patients at 1 month, 6 months, one year, and yearly thereafter. I also participate in monthly nursing orientation classes and introduce all nursing staff to our program and its requirements.
I have been a nurse since 2005, graduated Summa Cum Laude from both LVN and RN programs, valedictorian of both classes. Work experience includes family practice clinic, home health, and bariatrics. I just received my CBN (Certified Bariatric Nurse) certificate. I too have struggled with weight and the ability to maintain weight loss. After seeing the success of so many of our patients, I decided to undergo the sleeve gastrectomy in Feb 2012. I have lost 65lbs to date and am excited with the positive changes that the surgery has enabled me to achieve with my overall health.
I am from Alvord, TX by marriage and have lived there for the past 19 years. I have two very active sons, 13 and 15, who are involved in football, baseball, and basketball. I love to watch them in their respective sports, and when the day is done, there isn’t time for many other hobbies.
